These are my novels on Lulu, please check them out.

Consider the license plate frame.  This used to be a simple frame around the license plate.  It had a decorative purpose of sorts and was generally supplied by the dealer at the time the car was purchased.  The dealer would likely take the opportunity to have your car advertise for him or her by putting the name of the dealership on the plate frame.

People are getting wise to the dealers and have taken possession of the frame around the license plate.  Others have created a new industry in personalized license plate frames. People are claiming this area for their own expression and they are having these new businesses make plate frames that they can call their own.

It is now used to claim loyalty to the greatest sports team of all time; the one that they route for.  It is used to profess their love for the family pet with the pet’s name and decorative dog bones or whatnot.  It is used to explore the owner’s artistic talent with bright colors and shapes.  It is even used to shout to the world Joe’s love for Sally.

The license plate frame has joined the license plate itself in its effort to amuse and entertain us while we are stuck in traffic.  In addition to trying to figure out what the combinations of letters on the license plate means; we can now start banter in the car by agreeing or disagreeing with the statement made by the license plate frame on the car in front of us.

Who knows how far it will go?  Maybe one day there will be an award show; heck they have one for everything else.  I can see it now.  The announcer in a tux will proudly call out, “And the gold plate frame goes to. . .”

You must be careful though.  A fellow in Kansas had his Ohio State Buckeyes license plate frame obscuring part of his license plate.  The police stopped him on Interstate 70 and found 50 pounds of cocaine in his car.  This shows us the power of the license plate frame.  Evil doers may run drugs but they better treat their license plate frame with respect.
